YOUnique Origins

I am Ben Sheath, Founder and Director of YOUnique Development. I am a human being that cares deeply about how humanity interacts. I believe that through our connections we have the power to make a positive difference to the world we live and work in.

The YOUnique Vision

Being unique is what makes us human, and our humanity is what makes us YOUnique. The guiding principles that underpin YOUnique Development are inspired by music and lyrics.

The late, great Scott Hutchison, lead singer of Frightened Rabbit wrote the lyrics, ‘while I’m alive I’ll make tiny changes to Earth.’
The wonderful Frank Turner wrote the songs ‘Be More Kind’ and ’Little Changes’
The amazing Paul Henshaw wrote a beautiful song titled ‘Nice Folk.’

YOUnique Development is about helping you be more kind, make tiny changes to develop human skills and be the nice folk today.

Our Values

Focus on equity over equality

  • In all we do, we ensure people are treated fairly and given the tools unique to them to meet their individual needs

Own your own stuff and let others own what’s theirs

  • Awareness is all about owning your behaviours that are impacting your relationships and not absorbing another persons’ responsibilities

Be brave, be real, be loving and be human *

  • Being brave generates growth, being real is about sharing your authentic self, showing love creates connection, and being human is what makes us YOUnique

*(thanks to the late Doug Upchurch for the last one)

The YOUnique Beliefs

We believe that all growth, personal effectiveness and development starts with self. Our focus will be on you and your role in all your interactions.

We believe we can achieve better results by being a little kinder.  Not to confuse kind with nice.  YOUnique Development’s premise to be more kind, is about creating opportunities and environments to have challenging conversations that have a positive outcome.

Making a positive difference through compassionate ruthlessness, radical candour and being annoyingly provocative.  Kindness can sting at times but will drive positive change that deliver tangible and measurable results.
